BRAC RTF Hosts Relocation Fair at Fort McPherson

FORT BRAGG, NC (MAY 1, 2009) - The BRAC Regional Task Force today announced it will host the fourth Relocation Fair which will be held on September 23, at the Commons located at Fort McPherson, Ga.

"The is the fourth and final Relocation Fair for the soldiers and civilians working at U.S. Forces Command and U.S. Army Reserve Command," said Paul Dordal, executive director of the BRAC RTF.

The BRAC RTF staff is working with representatives from the 11 counties surrounding Fort Bragg who will attend the event and speak to education, recreation, housing, healthcare and other areas of interest to the prospective newcomers.

U.S. Army Forces Command and U.S. Army Reserve Command Headquarters will transfer from Fort McPherson, Ga., and bring 3,000 senior Army decision makers to Fort Bragg by mid-2011. Construction is underway on the new $288.5 million combined headquarters building on Fort Bragg.

The move is expected to bring nearly 40,000 new residents to the region by 2013. Personal income projected to grow to $44.95 billion during this time period. This includes $1.28 billion from the planned military growth.

The BRAC Regional Task Force (BRAC RTF) is a partnership of governments encompassing 11 counties and 73 municipalities. The state of North Carolina formed the organization to address issues related to the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Law and other transformational growth actions. The task force serves as the liaison between Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base, the communities, and the state and federal agencies involved in providing assistance and support to communities affected by BRAC 2005 actions.
