FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (APRIL 12, 2010) -- The All American Defense Business Association held its monthly board meeting on Thursday, April 8. The group held board elections and also voted for a name change.
The board elected Steven Moore to serve as Chairman for a one-year term. Moore owns Moore Exposure, a promotional products business located in Fayetteville. Mark Phelan, who is an associate with Booz Allen Hamilton, was elected vice chairman. Dottie Womack, president and CEO of Saab Barracuda in Lillington was elected Secretary; and Shanon Madrid, senior vice president, military segment manager, First Citizens Bank Fort Bragg/Pope, was elected Treasurer. Joy Thrash was elected Executive Director. She has served as interim director of the association since last May.
In other actions, the board voted to change the name of the organization to the North Carolina Defense Business Association. “We serve over 200 members from across the state representing defense contractors, private business, chambers and others who are interested in supporting North Carolina’s defense sector and military installations,” said Joy Thrash, executive director. “Although the Association is based in Fayetteville, interest has grown statewide and beyond,” said Thrash.
In recent months the association has held numerous contracting workshops, networking socials and general membership meetings. In coming months, general membership events include: a luncheon on June 29 with keynote speaker General Ann Dunwoody, Commanding General, U.S. Army Materiel Command; and, a breakfast on July 21 with keynote speaker Lt. General Jack Stultz, Commanding General, U.S. Army Reserve Command.
