FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (MAY 4, 2010) – The BRAC Regional Task Force today announced the Class of 2012 Kenan Fellows for the 11-county BRAC region. Twelve outstanding public school teachers will partner with leading researchers in the region to develop new curricula for schools across the state through teacher fellowships established by a $1.5 million National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to the Kenan Fellows Program.
“This year, twelve master teachers will have an opportunity to go beyond the classroom and work with a scientist on a research project in a STEM field of study,” said John Harbison, interim director of the BRAC Regional Task Force. “Their experiences will be enriched through collaboration with a mentor, interaction with other Kenan Fellows and the opportunity to train teachers in their home schools on STEM subject matter.”
The BRAC RTF and the Kenan Fellows Program for Curriculum and Leadership Development established a community partnership over a year ago to bring this exceptional program for master teachers to the region.
